At Duke: “I came to Duke fully intent on being a lawyer one day; obviously, that didn’t happen. First semester of my freshman year, I went to one of the first DEMAN Weekends (shoutout to Amy Unell), planning to attend the entertainment law panel. Instead, I found myself drawn to the TV Writing and Development panel, where I heard Duke alum Kevin Plunkett speak about his career. Kevin, who I would later be paired with as my mentor for the StudioDuke program, spoke about his day-to-day working to ensure scripts, concepts and ideas made it to air. I knew immediately that not only was working on the content side of TV what I wanted to do, but that it was feasible for me and not just a far-off dream.”

Getting to Success: “One of my core childhood memories is sitting with my mom and brothers, watching my mom’s (and later our) favorite show, “Gilmore Girls.”  No matter what life was like, that show brought us comfort, helping us get through the tough times and enjoy the good times even more. Being able to program content that people watch, knowing it can bring them joy, help them grow closer to their family, give them something to discuss at the watercooler at work – that’s the best feeling in the world to me.”

TV Forever: “I describe myself as a kid who watched too much TV who grew up into an adult who watches too much TV, so this is where I want to be. I want to continue to help put out content that inspires the next generation of TV-obsessed kids watching a show with their mom to grow up to be TV-obsessed adults working in media.”
